4Labs PRO vs Toteat

Toteat is a Chilean restaurant management system with point of sale, kitchen display, inventory and e-invoicing adapted to each market where it operates. It is a solid option for a regional chain invoicing in Chile, Colombia, Peru, Argentina or Mexico that wants a single vendor, with guided implementation site by site.

4Labs PRO issues electronic invoices and tickets against version 4.4 of Costa Rica's Ministry of Finance specification, with cryptographic signing and its own per-branch sequence. It is built Costa Rica first: every supplier invoice that comes in arrives with its response deadline already computed, the first eight business days of the following month the rules set, and the receiver message is signed and sent from that same screen. Closing the day separates the cash count, tallied by denomination, from the Z report of the day's sales, and the 10% service charge is stamped on each check when it opens: changing the rate never re-prices a table already being served.

4Labs PRO is sold and supported only in Costa Rica, and availability is worth settling before comparing anything else. Here is what toteat.com shows as of September 27, 2026: the country selector offers Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Mexico, plans are published per country in local currency, and its structured data declares Chile as the service area. If your restaurant invoices in Costa Rica, ask them about local availability before going further: that answer determines who signs the XML filed with the tax authority and who answers the phone on a Saturday night.

Choose Toteat if your operation lives outside Costa Rica or you are opening in several countries at once. A chain with locations in Santiago, Bogotá and Mexico City needs a vendor that already has each country's invoicing solved, implementation people on the ground and a contract in local currency, and there a regional product with years behind it holds an advantage no feature list makes up for.

Choose 4Labs PRO if your restaurant invoices in Costa Rica and you want the system to speak the tax authority's language with nobody in between. It covers the whole shift: the guest orders from the QR code on the table, the ticket lands on the right kitchen station, the server charges with the 10% service already computed, and the Z report exports to PDF and Excel for the accountant.

Moving to 4Labs PRO starts with two CSV importers that already ship in the product. One loads the full menu: categories, products, prices, and which kitchen station each category prints to. The other loads opening inventory with cost, lot and expiry per ingredient, recorded as a real stock movement rather than a number typed over the top. Both run a dry pass first that writes nothing and shows what will be created and what will be rejected, with the file's line number. Sales history imports too, but into a separate table: as live orders it would deduct ingredients sitting in today's stockroom and inflate that week's register close.

4Labs PRO is not for everyone, and that is worth saying before the demo. If you operate outside Costa Rica, the e-invoicing is of no use as it stands: it is written against the Costa Rican specification and there is no edition for another country. If full accounting is your priority and the point of sale is merely where invoices come out, an accounting suite fits you better. And if you need to charge straight through your bank's card terminal, we record the voucher and reconcile the batch close, but the charge itself does not leave the app.
